Spring is just around the corner, and it’s the most wonderful season that nature has given us with its explosion of colours and life. But as I say this we are also seeing dozens of articles online telling us about the spring syndrome that affects so many children.

But what do they mean when they talk about the “Spring Syndrome”.

The Spring Syndrome they tell us, is when children, at the beginning of spring, start to feel tired, irritable, down-in-the-dumps, cross, tetchy and grouchy. These symptoms may come from modifications of the neurogenerative system, the metabolism and the level of hormones, due to the variations of light and temperature typical of this season. To tell the truth though, throughout my career, I have never seen such serious effects in children caused by the arrival of spring.

It’s a question of attitude!

If you stop a moment to think about it, almost any change and event that we face in our lives depends, in one way or another, on how we deal with it.

A few years ago, after a heavy snowfall, I asked about thirty parents and grandparents how they had experienced the event with their families and children: as I imagined, only two of them spoke to me about the beauty of the landscape and the snow-capped trees.

Everyone else told me about all the problems the snowfall had caused, that they had had to shovel snow from the driveway to get out of their homes, that they had had to find the right type of shoes, how difficult it was to drive and find a parking space and so much more. As a matter of fact, they were all problems that they should have resolved after enjoying the beautiful snowfall.

So, let me give you a word of advice!

The changes that nature bring us should be enjoyed and appreciated because they are wonderful and can give us beautiful emotions and sensations. Of course, every season also brings problems, that you should be aware of and be prepared to deal with.

Spring is wonderful!

I leave you parents with the marvellous task of rediscovering with your children, all the beauty of spring. Whether you live in a big city, in the countryside, at the seaside or in the mountains, if you have the right attitude and focus on seeing the beauty of this season, it will fill your eyes with marvels you have never seen before. Being able to see the beauty that surrounds us makeseach and every day of our lives wonderful: so get used to changing seasons and teach this to your children. I assure you that it will be well worth it!
